Security Settings

Overview

The Security section of the platform controls user access, roles, and group assignments. It is accessible from the menu bar under Security and contains three sub-sections: Roles, Users, and Groups.

Users

The Users section lists all platform users and their assigned roles and group memberships.

User Overview

FieldDescription
EmailThe login email address of the user
NameThe display name of the user
RolesThe role assigned to the user, defining their permission level
GroupsThe user groups the user belongs to, controlling their access scope

Creating a User

To create a new user, navigate to Security → Users in the menu bar and click +. Fill in the user's details, assign a role, and add them to one or more groups.

User Groups

Groups define the scope of access for users by associating them with one or more locations. A user assigned to a group will only have access to the assets, devices, and data within the locations that group covers.

Group Overview

FieldDescription
NameThe name of the group (e.g. Barcelona Group)
LocationThe location this group is scoped to
DefaultWhether this is the default group for the associated location
StatusWhether the group is currently active

Creating a Group

To create a new group, navigate to Security → Groups in the menu bar and click +. Assign a name, select the associated location, and set whether it should be the default group for that location.

How Users and Groups Work Together

A user can belong to multiple groups, giving them access to multiple locations simultaneously. For example, a user assigned to Barcelona Group, Singapore Group, and Munich Group will have visibility across all three locations based on their role permissions.

This structure allows administrators to:

  • Restrict users to only the locations relevant to their responsibilities
  • Grant broad access to administrators across all locations
  • Manage access centrally without modifying individual asset or device permissions
