Devices

Overview

A Device is a physical hardware unit connected to an asset that collects and transmits telemetry data to the platform. Devices are the lowest level of the platform hierarchy and are always assigned to a specific asset.

A device can represent a wide range of hardware depending on your use case:

  • Multi-sensor units
  • Tracking devices
  • Smart plugs and energy meters
  • Cameras and AI vision units
  • Industrial controllers
  • Any other connected hardware

Sensors Within a Device

Each device can expose one or more sensors — individual data channels that measure and report specific values. A single multi-sensor device, for example, may provide all of the following simultaneously:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Motion
  • Air quality
  • Power state (smart socket)
  • RPM
  • Progress or operational state
  • Camera / AI feed
  • Custom message channels

Sensors are configured per device and appear as individual telemetry widgets on the asset dashboard, giving operators a real-time view of each measured parameter.

Device Status

A device can be in one of the following states:

StatusDescription
ActiveDevice is online and transmitting data
IdleDevice is connected but not actively reporting
OfflineDevice has lost connectivity
MaintenanceDevice is temporarily taken out of operation

What You Can Do With Devices

From the Devices module you can:

  • Onboard new devices and assign them to an existing asset
  • Configure sensors and define which telemetry channels are active
  • Monitor connectivity status and last seen timestamps
  • View live sensor readings directly from the device dashboard
  • Set up alert rules based on sensor thresholds or connectivity events
  • Track device location via the integrated map view

Getting Started

Before adding a device, ensure the following are in place:

  1. A Location and Asset Group have been configured
  2. An Asset exists to which the device will be assigned

Once an asset is available, devices can be onboarded and their sensors activated to begin transmitting telemetry data.
