Networks
Overview
Networks define the communication infrastructure through which devices connect and transmit data to the platform. Each network entry represents a broker or gateway configuration that devices use to send telemetry.
The platform supports multiple network types simultaneously, allowing you to integrate devices across different connectivity protocols within the same environment.
Supported Network Types
| Network Type | Description |
|---|---|
| LORAWAN_MQTT | LoRaWAN devices connected via an MQTT broker (e.g. The Things Network) |
| INOWISE_MQTT_NETWORK | Devices connected through the internal Inowise MQTT broker |
Creating a Network
To create a network, navigate to the Networks module in the menu bar and click +. Fill in the following fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A descriptive label for the network connection |
| Network | The network protocol type (e.g. LORAWAN_MQTT, INOWISE_MQTT_NETWORK) |
| URL | The broker endpoint URL the platform will connect to |
| Status | Enable or disable the network connection |
Network Status
Each network can be toggled active or inactive directly from the Networks overview. When enabled, the platform maintains a live connection to the configured broker and processes incoming device data. When disabled, the connection is paused without deleting the configuration.
What You Can Do With Networks
From the Networks module you can:
- Register new network brokers to onboard additional device fleets
- Manage existing network connections and update endpoint configurations
- Enable or disable networks without losing their configuration
- Monitor connection status across all registered brokers
